Get to know more about Zinnia

The dairy industry considers Zinnia a “surplus” calf. Born a twin to a male calf, she was exposed to masculizing hormones. This resulted in her being sterile. A female calf who cannot get pregnant is of no use to the dairy industry. These “surplus” female calves enter the slaughter pipeline at a young age. A dairy worker in Iowa reached out to a sanctuary in Iowa, wanting to find a loving home for Zinnia instead. We met up with Iowa Farm Sanctuary and brought Zinnia home. She is best friends with Dahlia, another calf from the same dairy farm.
