Jean Johnstone

Jean is a native Californian and has been involved with non-profit organizations since volunteering after school at 13 to help 4–6-year-olds with reading and crafts. After graduating from the University of Santa Clara with a BS in Finance & Marketing, she continued volunteering at and running non-profit organizations, most recently as ED with an equine therapy center for children and adults with disabilities. Knowing the power of non-verbal, non-judgmental communication with animals brought Jean to Animal Place. Her diverse experience also includes 17 years running her own marketing & operations consulting firm, and her board affiliations have included organizations to empowered women, individuals with disabilities, and tourism associations; currently, she is Board VP for Down Syndrome Connect Bay Area. Not surprising, in her downtime, Jean enjoys the same interests she has worked with…travel, animals, wine, storytelling, and new experience adventures!
